The Socio-Political relationship between the USA and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (North Korea)

in #news7 years ago (edited)

As many of you know, recently the tension between the DPRK (North Korea) and the USA (United States of America) has escalated to an all time high. For any that do not know about the rising tensions between the two, here is a brief synopsis.

The DPRK (North Korea) is heavily investing in a nuclear weapons program. While this inherently isn't bad, they are constantly threatening other nations such as the USA with these weapons they have so heavily invested in.

As seen in the picture above (From CNN) North Korea has lavish military parades to showcase their development in nuclear technology.

The current ruler of North Korea is Kim Jong Un. Kim Jong Un rose to power in 2012 when his father, Kim Jong Il passed away. Since then, Kim jong un has repeatedly faced heavy UN sanctions because of his choice to fund this program. In addition to this, the people of North Korea often have little to nothing to eat. Only the elite members can live a relatively good lifestyle.

(From Fossbytes)

North Korea is often looked at as one of the most underdeveloped nations in the world. However the government purposely restricts what its citizens are allowed to look at. The North Korean web contains only 28 websites. And don't even think you can pick up a computer at your local superstore. Only the elite, and people with express government permission are allowed to own one. In addition to this, anyone caught criticizing the regime or doing things such as watching South Korean movies, are subject to heavy punishments.

Only 28 diffrent hairstyles are allowed in North Korea.

If you thought starvation and denial of basic human rights was bad, you have barely hit the tip of the iceberg.

In North Korea, if you commit a crime, 3 entire generations of your family (including you) get sent to a "re-education" camp. These camps are scarily similar to the concentration camps used in Nazi Germany during Hitler's rise to power in WWII. Prisoners that have escaped (which isn't easy) have come forth to testify about the horrible conditions in the camps, where you are not expected to come out of alive.

Recently Donald J Trump, currently, at the time of me writing this, the President of the United States of America, has commented several times on Kim's insane regime, even calling him "Rocket Man" at a United Nations conference.
