A White House spokesperson has said the administration considers a scandal over top officials using Signal messaging app to discuss sensitive military information “closed”, despite no public actions taken.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned of a forceful retaliation if his country is attacked, following a threat by US President Donald Trump to bomb unless a nuclear deal is reached.
Global stocks have slumped after Trump said his soon-to-be-announced reciprocal tariffs will apply to “all countries”, not just those with the largest trade imbalances with the US.
Several leaders in Europe made appeals for Trump to change course on tariffs, with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk urging cooperation “not confrontation”.

No Eid greetings from White House, State Department
It is customary for the White House and the US Department of State to release statements acknowledging major holidays for various religions.

But the Trump administration has not said anything about Eid al-Fitr, which started yesterday for most Muslims.

Trump, who has called for the forced displacement of all Palestinians in Gaza, did hold a White House iftar last week.

“My administration is engaged in relentless diplomacy to forge lasting peace in the Middle East,” the US president told attendees.

The US-backed Israeli military has killed hundreds of Palestinians this month since resuming its war on Gaza.
