As if we didn't have enough absurd laws in the United States...currently in 9 states anyone with a medical marijuana card can be denied the right to purchase firearms. The reasoning behind this is that anyone addicted to a drug could potentially display reckless behavior and anyone with access to firearms would pose a threat. This is a completely BOGUS threat. #1 You can tell that It's not being taken seriously because they don't bother to seize anyone's existing weapons. #2 They are being completely ignorant of the actual facts pertaining to the effects of this specific "drug" marijuana.

Everybody knows that marijuana in particular should not be classified with other harmful drugs. Cannabis should never have been placed as schedule 1 and was put there based on a lie that was NEVER corrected. Marijuana's medical benefits have been shocking the health industry for decades. I've seen multiple studies that prove that "THC" the physcoactive ingredient in cannabis actually hunts and kills cancer cells.

To say that marijuana turns an individual into a violent irrational person is just a laughable notion. That's like saying that nitrosoxide at the dentist will make you more likely to have road rage. Where is the proof? Where is the evidence?

So what is this really about? Is it about safety? Is it about security? Perhaps it's about finding ANY reason to start denying a right? This would be the foot in the door to start adding more reasons to deny this right. I can prove that this is NOT about safety.

Exhibit A: The no fly list.
People who are on the no fly list can purchase firearms. Oh Yes! They are FAR too big a security risk to fly but by all means...let them have guns! That makes perfect sense.

Exhibit B: Other prescription drugs!
So what makes marijuana so much different than other prescription drugs (other than the fact that it makes you more calm than a Buddhist Monk)? The United States is in the middle of an opioid epidemic right now...much of which is prescription derived. People on prescription opioids and psychotropic drugs are able to purchase firearms. These individuals statistically have committed many violent crimes throughout history.

So there you have it...this has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with denying rights. Let's be real here...what is a stoner most likely to do after a massive bong hit?...shoot some people?...or order a pizza?

Sort:

Marijuana is an herbal plant. It's prohibited in our country and I hope medical marijuana will be available. Many say it can cure asthma and other diseases including involuntary shaking of muscles.

You are correct! Thanks for your comment!

You're welcome!
