Nature Lovers Community Planting 500 Trees in Lae Souraya
SUBULUSSALAM - The Nature Lovers Movement (G-PAL) planted 500 trees on the banks of Lae (river) Souraya Gampong Pasir Belo, Sultan Daulat Subdistrict, Subulussalam City to prevent erosion that could threaten the settlements in the area.
PR G-PAL Arizal Barat in a press release to portalsatu.com, Monday, April 23, 2018 said, planting 500 trees consisting of durian, jengkol and petai. In addition to preventing erosion, this plant also produces fruit, so beneficial to the community.
The planting of 500 trees in the Leuser Ecosystem Area (KEL) is to commemorate Earth Day in 2018. It aims to conserve the forest back, due to the occurrence of encroachment (Deforestation).
Forest encroachment that has been going on has a negative impact on people's lives, especially those living on the banks of the river. When high rainfall Lae Souraya riverbank susceptible to erosion and floods occur every year causing agricultural land is submerged, so not infrequently farmers lose every year due to the impact of flooding.
This action involved 50 participants consisting of the general public, students and students, including among women who joined in G-PAL lasted for 4 days from 21-24 April 2018.
