Seeing Avicii live, RIP Tim Bergling

in #news7 years ago (edited)

The news of the Swedish DJ and producer Tim Bergling a.k.a Avicii found dead whilst on holiday in Oman, has hit hard not only on the EDM community, but the news about it have been highly shared and discussed by a lot of people on social media.

I was very shocked when I’ve heard this since at 28 years old, he was an amazing young artist with a very promising career (net worth: $85 million) but very little people, including me, knew about his health issues. I believe that his popularity is due to the big role in making electronic genres less underground. I know plenty of people that aren’t into electronic music but still do enjoy Avicii’s songs.

Seeing Avicii at Untold Festival 2k15

I’m extremely thankful I was able to see him live at the Romanian festival Untold 2015 along with other 55k people and I can truly say that he was able to deliver an amazing vibe to the whole crowd, the atmosphere was so positive, all you wanted to do was dance and never stop. I was looking forward to seeing him live again but sadly that won’t be possible.

Short health & past backstory on him

Currently, they blame his death on acute pancreatitis caused by alcohol abuse but not so many people know that his health problems began in 2012. He’s had his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014 but right after undergoing surgery he continued to tour. He then continues to work on and off despite his health problems and then announces his retirement in 2016.

I’ve read plenty of persons portraying him in a negative way due to his substance abuse but I feel like in such a delicate time for his family and the whole community we should focus on the legacy Tim has left us with. Listening to his songs from very early on (2008) made me realize how much he’s developed as an artist throughout all these years. Probably most of us first heard his song Levels, which was his first mainstream song, followed by many more hits and popularity.

What is less known about gaining popularity, especially if you work in the field of DJing and music is that many artists start abusing various substances, which permanently damage their health and may even lead to death in some instances such as this. Many people have already started speculating about his death since nothing has been announced officially. I think that the privacy of his family should be respected and that we all take some moments to think about this legend. I’m certain his music will live on forever, Rest in Peace Tim<3

Effect of his death on fellow artists

The news has hit very hard on the whole music industry, plenty of artists expressing their regrets on social media and even the Billboard posted about it!
