Gay Marriage Legalised In Taiwan
Image: Wikipedia
Taiwan is now the first Asian nation and a part of a growing list of nations which have legalised same sex marriage.
The top court ruled on 24 May 2017 that the definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman in Taiwan’s civil law violates constitutional guarantees of equal protection and that the current law has to be changed within the next two years.
Taiwan has been one of Asia's most progressive societies and has one of the most vibrant gay scenes, even hosting an annual pride parade.
Here's hoping that this could set a precedent to more Asian countries especially with regards to the legalisation of same sex marriages.
