Abortion: what you did not know.
We all know what abortion is: an interruption of pregnancy.

What happens when abortion becomes a personal decision? Today it is very common to see such scenarios: The one that "thought" that nothing would happen but if it happened, the well-known "accident", the one that wanted but then regretted, the adolescent mother who is not ready...
Taking responsibility for a life is not an easy task, and I want to speak from both points of view, not as the person who supports or disapproves of an abortion. This is a subject that has a lot of fabric to cut.
This is an extremely personal decision and varies from one person to another. We know that in certain countries the induced termination of pregnancy is considered legal, as others consider it a crime.
In countries such as the Netherlands, abortion is legal before 24 weeks of gestation, in Sweden, other countries such as Uruguay, Mexico and Cuba are a bit more rigid in terms of gestation time, being the legal practice until 12 weeks, as well as in Denmark, France and Germany.
In 2008 the World Health Organization estimated 22 million unsafe abortions, many of which caused death and serious complications that could be avoided with better sex education.
And what about those countries that do not accept it? Although they do not believe it in some places, abortion is not approved even if the mother's life is in danger.
One of these is El Salvador, where the woman can even be sentenced to prison. I was reading about a case of a girl who had a spontaneous abortion after being repeatedly raped and was sentenced to 30 years in prison for "aggravated homicide to the detriment of her newborn son". Come on, are you serious?
Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic are also countries where abortion is prohibited in any case.
So suppose that the pregnancy is high risk, has some malformation or disease and most likely does not survive or even reach the birth and we ask ourselves: Are these kinds of "laws" really necessary or are they just the hypocritical face of a country? Where do not allow a woman to have a spontaneous loss but if it is violated by a person.
But that's another issue, I'm digressing a bit.
The truth of the matter is that, even in the 21st century, we are still a society that is going backwards.
And you, what do you think about it?
Nayren.
