BANDA ACEH - Chairman of the Legislations (Banleg) of the Aceh House of Representatives (DPRA) said that if the issue of Aceh's flag does not meet the solution, then the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) signed the peace agreement on 15 August 2005 in Helsiki-Finland, had to return to the negotiating table by involving international political outlets such as CMI and the European Union.

"The flag of Aceh is a mandate of the Law on the Government of Aceh (UUPA) which is a derivative of the Helsinki peace agreement (MoU), which is a promise of the Central Government for Aceh.If not get the meeting point between the Central Government and Aceh, then On On Reel (the track) must return to the international negotiating table, "Abdullah Saleh said on Saturday (27/7) in Banda Aceh.

However, Abdullah Saleh said, if the issue can be resolved within, it does not necessarily have to be taken out by involving the international community.

"The issue of this flag is not too urgent, so it can be resolved in. In the case of the discussion of this flag, the Aceh government is not brought to emotional thinking, but with a familial pattern that is by way of bermkoyawarah and democracy," he said.

Meanwhile, on raising the flag on August 15, 2013, Abdullah Saleh explained, that it is not a movement to lead to independence, but in the framework of peace. To that end, he deeply regrets the statement of the Minister of Home Affairs which states will coordinate the police if the Aceh flag is raised.

"I think the Minister of Home Affairs is failing to keep Aceh afloat, and now Aceh has changed so far, which has now entered a peaceful phase," Abdullah Saleh said.

The raising of the Aceh flag, he added, is clearly done for peaceful strengthening, as it coincides with the memorial of Aceh's peace agreement which has entered eight years.

"The hoisting is also done with the start of the Red and White Flag, so obviously this is not for the independence movement, but for the strengthening of Aceh's peace," Abdullah Saleh said.

"Aceh has been unanimously returned to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), so there is no term currently talking free or independent, but what needs to be discussed is Aceh which has specialities and special government under the Unitary Republic of Indonesia," he added.

In addition, Abdullah Saleh added that he guarded very much the attitude of a number of other government officials in Jakarta who had blown the issue of disintegration due to the Aceh flag, and made the atmosphere more heated.

"The question of the existence of the Acehnese flag, which is considered to be a split, is excessive, it is just an issue that the Central Government breathes in. At present, Aceh is calm because there are no visible fluctuations in society," Abdullah Saleh said.

The question of establishing Aceh Leuser Antara (ALA) and Aceh Barat Selatan (ABAS) due to the Aceh flag, Abdullah Saleh added, it is an exaggeration.

"The issue is also the center that blows the fire, because if the center is silent and does not support it, they are still the people of Aceh and part of Aceh," said Abdullah Saleh.

Meanwhile, regarding the Aceh flag, which is considered capable of creating national divisions, such as Maluku (RMS) and Papua (OPM) which also wants its flag to be a regional flag, Abdullah Saleh said it was also considered too broad and excessive.

"The issue of regional flags has been regulated by law, and all regions have their own flags, but for Aceh it is clearly regulated in the UUPA which is a derivative of the Helsinki MoU, so legally and historically, the existence of the Aceh flag is quite strong," he said. .

On the matter of this flag, Abdullah Saleh hopes that the Central Government can think wisely in making decisions about the Aceh flag.

"Just mention this flag, as a gift to the people of Aceh, Aceh is also willing to go back to NKRI, and do not intend any more for independence," said the politician of Aceh Party.
