The engagement of Britain's Prince Harry to actress Meghan Markle is raising eyebrows on the two sides of the Atlantic for an especially British set of reasons: She's a biracial lady who will be the first American divorcée to wed into the royal family in almost 81 years.

Harry, the 33-year-old second child of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, discreetly proposed to Markle earlier this month. On Tuesday, the royal family reported that Markle will turn into a British national before she weds Harry on May 2018 ceremony in Windsor Castle. The young couple will live in Nottingham Cottage, part of London's Kensington Palace.

The pair have dated for over a year, and made their first official outing together in September in Toronto at the Invictus Games, a Paralympic-style competition for injured or sick individuals from the military and veterans.

Prince Harry's public statement a year ago with regards to Ms. Markle adequately confirmed their relationship, and it additionally took aim on British daily papers that have since quite a while ago yearned for news of the royals and their weaknesses.
