RE: NYT Columnist Blames Palestinians For Being Shot

in #news7 years ago

"We could've hit Saudi Arabia" - Naw dawg, they're paying us to be there

"We could've hit Pakistan" - Nope, they've got nukes

Douchebag translation: "Iraq was the tallest blade of undefended oil-producing grass in the middle east, and it needed to be cut."

Big plusses for the US:

  • The price of oil rises, increasing the value of the dollar
  • Saudi Arabia removes a legitimate market competator
  • US arms manufacturers and supporting industries gain massive amounts of income from the war effort

Normally I don't expect journalists to really be into the narrative they shill, but Friedman has some definite aggression in his voice. Like he'd rehearsed in front of a mirror in the bathroom that morning. "Well you- no... Well.. suck on... Mmm- naw, Well YOU can...."

Another note - this guy loves the phrase "flower of youth". I wonder what his google search history looks like.

On Israel: The United States is eventually going to lose its military power, and when it does, what does Israel expect to have happen? How can a country so aggressive ever hope to atone for the crimes it's perpetrated?

The same goes for the United States. How does a country atone for unmitigated military aggression from the Korean War onward?
