#7 "11 - JUNE" in World HISTORY
1962 - The most famous attempt to escape three prisoners from Alcatraz took place.
During the most famous escape attempt on June 11, 1962, three refugees (Frank Morris and brothers John and Clarence Anglin) managed to get out of prison. A large-scale search was carried out to find fugitive prisoners. The law enforcement officers were sure that they would find their bodies, but they never succeeded. Based on the stories about these escapes, several films have been made, including Escape from Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood. The fact that for many years there was no news about the fugitives, and that disclosing information about their fate would guarantee fame and money, it seemed to indicate that none of the escapes was successful. In 2018, however, it was revealed that in 2013, the police received a letter, which the sender presented as John Anglin, confirmed the successful escape of all three in June 1962, with a request for a mild punishment and medical care (related to cancer) in exchange for disclosure of your whereabouts.
2004: The funeral of former US President Ronald Reagan was held.
1988 - Galina Czistiakowa established in Leningrad the current world record in the long jump (7.52 m).
