Are we getting too much Star Wars content?

in #news7 years ago

You can not have missed the fact there is a new Star Wars movie coming soon.

Yes, the scruffy nerf herder himself is getting a ... solo ... movie.

Which, don't get me wrong, is a GOOD thing.

But right now might be bad timing.

We are still going to see the latest trilogy movie. It's not released for home viewing yet (coming soon, apparently - I have it pre-ordered).

Not only that, Lucasfilm owner Disney has a bunch of big releases coming. Of course not all Star Wars fans are also comic book movie fans, but a lot are.

  • Black Panther
  • Infinity War
  • Ant Man and the Wasp
  • Heck, the next Jessica Jones series ...

Is there a point where they are just competing with their own franchises?

Even More Star Wars

Which brings us to this announcement ...

Of course as a GoT fan I would love to see what they have planned ... but I also am worried there will be too much content too soon.

To leave off, here is something fun ...

Seems like in a few years everything will be owned either by Disney or Google

We get too much of everything nowadays and that takes away their magic. Star Wars was something special that came out once every 3 years and stopped after a satisfying conclusion. Now they make one every year, mostly reusing the same ideas, and disappoint most when they don't.

They are going to milk the franchise to death and get the most out of the 4 billion they spent for it.

Wait till they start with the Indiana Jones and other IP they got in the process.

I am worried you are right. We went all that time with very little content and now we have probably too much.

On the other hand, it is great to see my son grow up with so much Star Wars, I didn't have that opportunity until I was older.

maybe that is part of the reason there are so differing reviews - we appreciate every new scrap whereas the younger folks take it more for granted :)

Enjoying the Rebels series though, just started the last season.
