One Dead, One Wounded in Newark Domestic Shooting
Police and Fire/Rescue responded to calls for an active shooter in the north side of Newark this morning around 1040 AM EST. Bystanders reported two separate vehicles engaged in a short chase near Pierson and Dio at 21st St.
A gentleman at the scene gave extensive comment, reproduced here from The Columbus Dispatch
'
“It looked like they were chasing each other,” he said.
Shortly thereafter, the two cars switched directions from southbound to northbound on North 21st Street, and one ran into the trailer Jack was pulling.
″... She was running out of the car. screaming, ‘Don’t shoot me, don’t shoot me,’ and she had the baby,” Jack said. “And he got out of that silver Audi over there with a gun already drawn coming at her. The gun was just blazing.”
Jack said the man shot multiple times, hitting the woman in the leg once as she ran into a Sprint store nearby. An associate who answered the phone at the business Monday afternoon confirmed that the victim entered the storefront but declined other comment, saying employees were providing information to investigators.
“Next thing I knew, I looked over and he was laying on the ground” with a shot through the chest and out the back, Jack said. ”... He’s dead.”
He added, “What was ironic is, when they were doing the compressions on his chest and the CPR ... he had a tattoo on his chest that said, ‘Love is Pain.’”
Just before noon, the body of the dead man lay covered near the corner of North 21st Street and Log Pond Drive as officers searched damaged vehicles in the intersection.

The investigation is ongoing. More if it develops.
