Apple will abandon Intel in 2020 after creating its own Mac processor, according to Mark Gurman

Apple would shape towards its third great transition. The first was the jump from Motorola 68k to PowerPC, after PowerPC to Intel, and now from Intel to its own processors. The latter is assured by the reliable Mark Gurman, who has just released the bomb by confirming that in 2020 this change will come in.

The Bloomberg editor confirmed a year ago that Apple was working on a proprietary ARM processor for their Mac with which they would seek independence from Intel. Today, Gurman assures that this has advanced and mentions that Apple already has everything ready for the change in 2020, in a project known internally as Kalamata.

Kalamata Project

Kalamata would be the biggest and most important bet since Tim Cook took control of Apple, not only would they be putting this processor in Mac, but also in iPhone, iPad and other devices. This would mean a unification of platforms that would enhance their use and, of course, convergence.

According to the information, the Kalamata Project is still at a very early stage of development, but has already been approved by the company's executives and has a scheduled date for 2020, although it would be developed in stages.

From above we can highlight the rumors about the upcoming versions of Apple's operatives, where it is said that universal applications would arrive. Apple has already been taking experience in the issue of processors, it is enough to see the AX of iPhone or iPad, as well as the processors of the AirPods or Apple Watch, even in the MacBook Pro and iMac Pro we already have the presence of chips created by the company, which are responsible for additional tasks and optimized for their operating systems.

According to Gurman, there is still time for this to happen, but in the coming months,  we should see some clues to this development, which is emerging as one of the most important for the company.
