NIA's big action: two arrested in Pahalgam attack

Srinagar, June 22, 2025: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved a major breakthrough in the investigation of the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA has arrested two locals, Parvez Ahmed Jothar and Bashir Ahmed Jothar, for sheltering terrorists. The attack took place on April 22, 2025, in which 26 innocent tourists lost their lives and 16 others were seriously injured. This disclosure has created a sensation across the country and given new strength to India's fight against terrorism.

Pakistani connection of terrorists exposed

NIA investigation has revealed the shocking fact that all the three terrorists involved in the attack were Pakistani nationals and were associated with the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The arrested Parvez and Bashir revealed the identity of these terrorists during interrogation and confirmed that they had sheltered them in a temporary dhok (hut) in the Hill Park area before the attack. Both of them provided food, shelter and logistical support to the terrorists, which helped in carrying out the conspiracy of this heinous attack.

The brutality of the attack shocked the entire nation

In this attack in Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, the terrorists targeted tourists on the basis of religious identity. This brutality shocked not only India but the entire world. According to the NIA, it was one of the most horrific terror attacks in recent years. Most of the people killed in the attack were Hindu tourists, along with a Christian tourist and a local Muslim pony guide who lost his life while trying to save the lives of others.

NIA takes strict action,

The NIA has arrested both the accused under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The investigating agency registered a case under RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU and is now conducting an intensive investigation to unravel the entire network of the terror conspiracy. The NIA had earlier also raided 32 places in Kashmir, including districts like Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama, Sopore and Kupwara.

This arrest has once again exposed Pakistan's conspiracy to promote terrorism. The evidence found from the NIA investigation has given India an opportunity to present a strong case against Pakistan in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The FATF had also condemned the Pahalgam attack and said that such attacks are not possible without financial help and terrorist supporters.
