RE: Joe Rogan talks about how CNN can't and wont be honest with their news ever again
I'd rather eat a broken glass dogshit sandwich than watch CNN or any other network news for that matter...its just arsenic for the mind and soul.
My time is way too limited & precious to be filling my head with BS...even on a subconscious level... no matter what the source.
I agree with you. I only look at pieces of it to see how crazy they are going to be from week to week.
Saturday, I watched this Joe Rogan podcast with Tristan Harris & Daniel Schmachtenberger on Spotify and to describe it as compelling just doesn’t quite say it. The day after, I watched the documentary “The Social Dilemma.” Equally compelling.
Both of these basically confirmed what I already believed…confirmation bias…haha…but this is the reason why the only social media I participate in is steemit and hive...and I never watch network news.
Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, plus CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc…play to our worst fears, insecurities and biases as they grab more and more of our attention and manipulate our behavior…accentuating our differences and diminishing our commonalities and disrupting the continuity of government. Eroding civil society and democratic values. And giving our authoritarian competitors ammunition to keep democracies in-fighting...ie, Chinese or Russian intel community troll farms conjuring up online hate to spark protest in the streets...as major networks cover the bullshit sowing even more discord.
Due to the power that these platforms have, and the ability of state and non-state actors to wield them, they need to be regulated as data/information utilities. We are tearing ourselves apart. We are so manipulated, we do not know we are being manipulated. Just like, the truly oppressed, do not know that they are oppressed.
The true enemies of the United States and democracies are not liberals or conservatives…or comparatively speaking, even state actors are not the greatest threat...it is unfettered and misused artificial intelligence. And God help us if we don’t realize this in time.
thanks for the tips on the podcast and the documentary. I'll check them both out.
I agree with basically everything you said up there too.
