Century's longest lunar eclipse dazzles star gazers

A blood-red moon attracted the world’s star gazers on Friday night during the longest lunar eclipse in the 21st century.
The eclipse transformed the moon into a reddish orange color for more than 100 minutes, according to NASA.

Noah Petro, a scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, said not every place on the globe was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the celestial event. North America and most of the Pacific region were unable to see it.

Astronomy lovers used telescopes or went to nearby observatories to watch the eclipse. The next lunar eclipse of such length is due in 2123.
