Anything Musk does, regardless of how insignificant, is news apparently

in #news8 days ago

My news feeds, conservative and liberal, are absolutely filled with Elon Musk stories. Most of the liberal pieces are hit-pieces, and most of the conservative pieces are doing their best to make him appear as though he is the greatest thing to ever happen to the planet. Almost none of them are genuine objective news.

The coverage of Elon is all political in nature of course, and these days almost none of it is actually newsworthy. The most egregious example of how no news about him is actually news is the fact that when his company Space-X stepped in to help the stranded astronauts that NASA (apparently) wasn't able to bring back to Earth on their original timeline, A private company stepped in to do the job for them and most news organizations didn't cover the story at all. This should have been a 24-hour broadcast, covered from all angles, talking to many people involved constantly, with round-tables, experts chiming in, and an overall celebration of it. Instead, we got almost no coverage of it at all and if news stations bothered to talk about it at all, it was only in passing and with kind of a snarky, dismissive angle to it.

I don't need to tell you this but this is obviously because of his association with Trump and we all know how the media reacts to that guy. There is almost no objective news about him, so Elon of course gets the same treatment. When those astronauts landed safely in the ocean without a hitch, this should have been a nationwide or perhaps global celebration of epic proportions seeing as how nothing like his has happened in history, ever.

Take the CNN headline for example in their article where they barely talked about it and it was buried in the puff-pieces section of their website: "NASA astronauts return home after more than nine months in space"

While they did mention SpaceX in the article, they did it in a passing manner and referred only to statements made by other people and pointing out that in a "statement shared on social media platform X" sort of way, as if anyone needed reminding what that actually is.

They then spent the rest of the time talking about how the 286 days is still "significantly shorter than the world record of 437 days." and then talking about how Starliner is doing very well as an operation and how Biden was never offered help by SpaceX and how staying in space for a long time is a totally normal thing to do.

Basically, they were downplaying the entire thing while also trying to spin it in a bad light. I wonder why their viewership has diminished so much in the past 6 years?

Something that does make the news in a really big way and has the coverage and roundtable discussions complete with a bunch of pundits who really know an awful lot about everything involved though, is Elon's newest proposition for his companies though: A drive-in diner.

They wasted no time making fake images in as non-flattering a light as possible as well which is something they seem to have a big problem with when the shoe is on the other foot. The conservative outlets rushed in to play damage control on the other end, being ambiguous as hell and just as absurd in the other direction.

The conservative articles are just as stupid though, because the amount of gushing and praise they are throwing in Elon's direction for this "brilliant idea" is also not deserved. Why? Well because of course it makes business sense that a company that has charging stations that take a while to actually do their job would have something for sale at those locations for the people using them.

As usual, Conservative Brief was quick to use the word "SHOCKING" when describing it: " Elon Musk Unveils Shocking NEW Project After Leaving DOGE - Even Trump Is Stunned!"

Their headlines look like they were made by 4th graders who are required to use the word "stun" in some way or another.

In all honesty, when this store opens up it will be interesting to see how nutso the people go because the first one is going to be in LA, and if there is one thing that the people of LA definitely do no like, it is Teslas and anything else that Elon has anything to do with. I am sure it will be vandalized almost immediately and this will get more coverage than the monumental task of taking over for frggin NASA when they couldn't do the job themselves.

I've gotten to the point where I am rage-clicking on any article written about Musk because it always goes like this: Liberal outlet writes hit-piece that is over the top, filled with speculation, and always has a negative angle. Conservative outlets immediately release counter-piece going over the top with the praise regardless of how insignificant whatever the story in question happens to be.

Honestly, if anyone reads any of this stuff and can't read between the lines to see that there is no such thing as news anymore, then I would imagine that they really struggle with their own mental health.

I read the "news" out of morbid curiosity only these days and to see how crazy all of it is going to be. There is no objective information in 90% of the slop that we are spoon-fed from MSM and especially social-media these days. If it wasn't because I am kind of documenting the complete downfall of news media with a judgmental vision, I would prefer to just not know what is going on in the world.
