There is some accountability when major corporations try to lobby to restrict constitutional freedoms. That's because customers can fight back and shop at other concerns that are either neutral or actively support constitutional freedoms.

Employment and company laws have been used as color of law attacks against basic rights for much time now.
This is a major flaw of groupthink and good intentions.
Many cite some balance that is needed.
Many tyrants cite need for thier rights to impose thier better viewpoints.
North Korea has fully disarmed public citizenry.
If they want that level of full safety please go there.
One thing that you missed,, "What is the first thing a Totalitarian government does?" The answer is very simple,, "they disarm the populace". Then how do you resist such a government? Just food for thought @calmacs.
The issue of weapons in the US has been controversial for quite some time, they do not decide in spite of all the problems they generate in society, of course the big corporations influence because they manage large fortunes of money and goods, otherwise things were otherwise and there would be much more peace and tranquility ... I have no doubts! Controversial topic!
