No luck in gambling: US-programmer who hacked Lottery winning numbers now sentenced to 25 years in prison
The former programmer of a US lottery company, Eddie Tipton, has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for fraud with Lotto tickets. As was found during the investigation, Tipton had created a software with which he could determine the exact lottery numbers. Then he passed these on to his accomplices and afterwards shared the profits with them.
The fraud was revealed after Tipton had bought a ticket himself, which as an employee of the lottery company he was not allowed to do. He won 14 million US Dollar. According to the rules of the game, however, the buyer of the lottery ticket had to collect his winnings himself. When Tipton tried to do that, he was arrested.
The man had already been arrested already in 2015, however admitted his guilt only recently. Now the man is expected to repay the sums already paid out to him. He also undertook to disclose the software and his accomplices.
Wow interesting!
This makes no sense if he created a predicting program he didn't hack anything, he's only guilty of trying to claim money from his work, which sounds wrong because he would have someone else do it.
Where's is the News Source of this story ??? post the links so we can see your not making this all up.
Hmm.. I thought they still used the numbered balls. At first I thought he was pretty smart, but pretty stupid considering he worked for the lottery.
