Breaking: Rebels offer their own ceasefire terms to Russia in southwest Syria

BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:40 P.M.) - The rebel forces have offered the Russian Reconciliation Center their own ceasefire terms in southwest Syria today.

According to a local report, the opposition forces told the Russian Reconciliation Center that they would accept a ceasefire based on the following terms:

• Prevent the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and security forces from entering rebel-held towns
• Opposition forces will handover their heavy weapons in several phases
• Syrian Army will retreat from several towns they captured these past two weeks
• All government institutions in the rebel-held areas will be managed by locals
• A military force is formed with medium weapons in order to manage the security in the region
• Reopen the Nassib Crossing under local management and Russian military police

A military source in Damascus told Al-Masdar News that this offer will not likely be accepted by the Syrian Arab Army's High Command, as they are currently on the offensive and pressing deeper into the rebel-held areas.

The government is likely looking for an agreement that is similar to the deals in the northern countryside of Homs and the East Ghouta.

The northern Homs and East Ghouta agreements gave the government full control over these former rebel strongholds and forced the militants to leave these areas.
