Florentino Pérez: "There's no question that Modric has been the best player this year"

"We're experiencing a historic period but let's not go thinking that it's easy", stated the Real Madrid president.
Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez, offered his thoughts to Realmadrid TV in the wake of The Best Awards: "I'm just as satisfied as all of the rest of the madridistas. It's a pleasure for all of us who love this club to see that year in, year out we have many players named in the FIFA Team of the Year. This year four of our squad made the team, Courtois has been named the best goalkeeper and the major award, The Best, went to Luka Modric".

"I've said it in the past, when people say that we have to have the best players in the world, I always say that we've already got them here. No club has had 11 players nominated for these awards. It's therefore recognition that we've got the best player in the world, which is something we can say with complete humility".

"There's no question that Modric has been the best player this year, both for his club team, Real Madrid, as well as with the Croatian national team. Everyone clapped in recognition of his excellent season when his named was announced. For us, who placed our faith in him many years ago now, this is the reward for many years of fine football, hard work, quality, effort and I've only got words of satisfaction".

"We've experiencing a historic period, I said it as the Real Madrid Assembly and I believe that we have to realise that we're witnessing a historic period, but we've got to be realistic. What we're doing isn't easy, we can't go thinking that Real Madrid means you always wins. If we continue to work with humility, sacrifice, desire and camaraderie, just as this team does, we'll be able to continuing winning things. But let's not go thinking that it's easy".
