RE: What I Have Learned So Far in One Week...10 Tips and Tricks
@fred777bear following you buddy... thanks for informing... But I didn't get your second point regarding the posting key... can you please elaborate that?
You should have ALREADY saved your PASSWORD that was used to generate your keys
Next go to Profile >Wallet > Permissions and copy paste all FIVE keys to a safe place.
(eg a text file on a memory stick)
The “OWNER” key is the ‘master key’, keep it VERY safe
Daily logins for posting should use your Private POSTING key.
Once you have copies saved, log out and log back in with USERNAME & your POSTING key
Do you think it's also safe to just write all these codes on a paper?
And then try them once to make sure they're written down perfectly.
Yes you could, but seems like hard work to me.
You need to keep them safe. From what is the question.
a) virus
b) hard drive failure
c) hackers
To me all 3 are covered if I just copy to an external USB stick (that I only plug in on rare occasions, and only after I turn off my internet connection)
The paper idea works.....until coffee gets spilled, ink fades or cleaner "tidies up". ie everything has a weak link in the process.
Just have to think through & see what works for you.
HTH
@fred777bear I just want to kiss you man!!
I noticed something that looks a bit strange for me. I found all 4 passwords that you were referring to. Those are all different than the password I now use to login. So there actually is a fifth password or do I miss something?
There are 4 x public (start with STMxxx) & 2 x private keys (start 5Jxxxxx).
I said 5 as the memo one is redundant ATM & 5 makes people LOOK for the 2 private ones!
the private ones should remain just that!
Yes Yes Yes Yes >> For some reason that TOTALLY stumps me, the DEFAULT is to log new users in with their master key.....talk about dumb dumb dumb (IMHO)
So yes by default new users are "exposed" from day 1!
please follow steps...
You are a lifesaver... I just don't know how can I Thank You on steemit!!
You just did :-)
No prob. Throw me a vote on my posts when you want to.
Post a comment on one of them if you have a question & I'll see it & answer.
