Bangladesh trumped the Champions Trophy shocks that went before by knocking 2015 World Cup runners-up New Zealand out of the tournament – and can now add Australia to the casualty list with England's help.
Following surprise successes for Pakistan and Sri Lanka earlier in the week, Mashrafe Mortaza's team were on the canvas at 33 for four, chasing 266 for victory, but - inspired by their return to Cardiff, scene of their famous one-day win over Australia 12 years ago – fought back through Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah hundreds to seal a dramatic five-wicket heist.
They will join England in the semi-finals unless Australia win the final Group A match between the Ashes rivals on Saturday.

'It would be nice. Whatever we could do, we did, and that was the most important thing for us,' said Mashrafe.
And how. The 224-run partnership was Bangladesh's biggest for any wicket, and first double hundred alliance in one-day internationals.
Yet when they came together, following Tim Southee's ransacking of the top order, belief had deserted Mashrafe.
'At that time it was very difficult,' he admitted.
Mahmudullah proved the catalyst for change, hauling a pull off Jimmy Neesham 20 rows deep into the swathes of empty seats in front of the pavilion, during an over that cost 13 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh runs out New Zealand star man Williamson (left) in Cardiff
Then, after keeping the asking rate to just over a run a ball, another mini counter-attack immediately after the second drinks break saw Mahmudullah tower New Zealand captain Kane Williamson's occasional off-spin over long-on for a second six. Again, 13 runs came from the over.
Left-hander Shakib played the supporting role but reached three figures first during a late blitz of boundaries. New Zealand's fate had already been sealed by the time Trent Boult yorked him for 114.
'These are tough tournaments, they do put you under pressure and are cut-throat when there is a bit of weather around,' said Williamson, whose side were the first to be eliminated despite dominating their rain-hit contest against the Australians.
