I am following up on this topic within the next few days as well. The net neutrality discussion is not over!

This article is not for the faint of heart. I do more academic work and that'll be coming to this blog soon (bit of a lazy bones today), but this was me being angry factual. It's profane headlines and then paragraphs and paragraphs of information.

I talk about:

  • what net neutrality is and why it is important
  • the economic value that we derive from the structure of the internet
  • how we got here in the first place, including a bit of understanding of the baby bells
  • a breakdown of several arguments that Ajit Pai has been making
  • how far America is lagging behind in its mobile and internet infrastructure
  • how much fiber infrastructure would cost and the profits of major ISP companies, alongside lobbying efforts
  • what the next steps are

In the next piece that I bring to the table on net neutrality I will be talking about:

  • infrastructure issues across access, security vulnerabilities, emergency system vulnerabilities, and infrastructure development
  • how Ajit Pai isn't really doing his job, why his choices are absolute shit, and why his tactics have been diversionary
  • What we actually need to do to create a functional internet that overcomes these problems
  • Other things we could do to increase the competition and address the faux issues that Ajit is raising
  • What the next steps are to protect net neutrality.

The title for that will be: OH MY FUCKING GOD, AJIT PAI, COULD YOU FUCKING NOT.

Look forward to this a day or two after the new year!
