How to claim GAS on NEO Android wallet.

in #neo7 years ago (edited)

So I recently downloaded the NEO Android Wallet because I can claim GAS (antshares) but the problem was that I wasn't able to claim any GAS. So after dedicating a full day to this I have finally figured out exactly how to do this. I also verified my work by claiming more than once, so it should work for everybody out there with this mobile wallet.

  1. Open your NEO wallet. Enter your password
  2. Tap on receive to show your public key. Now tap on the key to highlight it or long press the public key to let you copy it.
  3. Go back to home. Once your there you will want to select asset to NEO. Send just one NEO coin to your own wallet, so tap the address bar and paste your wallet address that you copied from step 2 Where it asks for quantity you don't have to put everything you have. You can simply enter 1 coin for the transfer.
  4. Tap confirm transfer. You will see a pop up with Chinese characters, and some numbers. This is a confirmation ticket I think. So after you see this. Log out, or exit the app.
  5. Log back in, and now go to claim. There should be available GAS now, just press claim and again a pop up confirmation will appear. Now go home and if you don't see your GAS update simply close the app then log back in.

Like I said, I have done this a few times now, and it has worked every time.

Here is how a link to download NEO on android.

I'm myself using the Windows desktop wallet and it's also working without problems. Just transfer the NEO to the same address to change the GAS status from 'unavailable' to 'available'.

Thats awesome. All we gotta do now is hold hold hold.

thank you have tried to claim lets see

thanks for this! I have set up my wallet with the neo android app and transferred some my neo tokens to it. in the "claim" menu, i now see increasing amounts of "unavailable Gas", but "available gas" stays at 0. Are only full numbers available? Like 1 or 2 Gas?

It was non responsive these last few days, im thinking because of the all the activity going on in their system, but you should be able to claim again once you send yourself some neo. Give it time though, it really slowed since last week, but hopefully it will be back up soon.

Yeah it's been slow this afternoon but faster now already. I do have the select asset button on the home screen, but I cannot chose an asset, the only option I see is "select" where I would expect NEO or GAS. Do you have an idea why? Also, I wonder what effect on my NEO balance sending myself some NEO have? Does claiming GAS cost NEO? Sorry for asking all those questions, I simply don't understand until now.

No problem. I know that on the pc versions you had to send yourself your coins in ordee to redeem gas, so that's what i did, and it eorked, and no, it wont cost youanything.

ok thanks, will try once i have accumulated some GAS. For now I am happy to just see it collecting :)

ok got it - thanks!
do you know if the amount of claimed gas increases the amount of collected gas, too, or is it really just dependent on the amount of neo one has? e.g. i have 1000 neo and 100 gas. do I collect more new gas because of the 100 claimed gas units, or would i get the same amount of new gas with just the neo without the claimed gas?

There is a set amount of new gas per block, and you will get a fraction of that regardless. I dont remember off the top of my head, but just keep collecting, gas price is through the roof right now

It worked thank you! Upvoted, followed. All set up and ready to Hodl.

Very good blog. Interesting to see I'm not the only one that is thinking about this. The crypto space brings the biggest group of uneducated investors with it. This group will only grow. We do need to look better at the insights of every coin. What team is behind it, is there any management. How strong is the product, is there any product at all? I was wondering if anyone of you uses: https://www.coincheckup.com This site is really helpful in my coin research. I don't know any other sites with so much indepth analysis. Check for example: https://www.coincheckup.com/coins/Neo#analysis For a complete Neo Detailed report.

Thank you! Worked like a charm!
