Knitting progress
Hey lovely Needleworkers, here's an update of my attempt at knitting myself a sweater. For those of you who follow me, you'll remember this as being my first attempt at knitting a jumper. The start was a little slow as I had to look up every little technique in the recipe, but it's been progressive pretty well. I have finished the main body part, as you can see.
Body part all finished - the needles are removed as I need them for knitting the arms
Body part is coming along nicely
I was knitting away, sometimes not minding how far I'd come - had to remember to change colour for the stripes
Nerve-wrecking moment of removing the needles and inserting a thread. Not sure whether it was the right thing to do, but I had no-one to ask. It was in the middle of the night!
I realize of course this is the easiest part, but I have thoroughly enjoyed just knitting away, seeing the stripes fly by!
Will (hopefully) check in soon with more exciting updates!
It will be nice and warm when done @lil-mich... Sometimes I can I use a needle holder which is just a bit longer than a safety pin... otherwise just as you did threading wool through the open stitches ...
good to know I wasn't completely off tracks when using a thread then :)
Oh no.. so sorry I missed your post @lil-mich. I really like how fluffy your sweater is looking and nice color combination too!
Thanks @marblely 😄
Uiiiii a knitted sweater!!! What pattern did you use? I guess you are knitting it bottom up, that's a technique I still haven't tried. I am curious how it will come along. So far, the colours are lovely and the fuzzy yarn too.
If I must put the life stitches (for example of the sleeves, when I am knitting a sweater top down) on a something, I seldom use yarn, but mostly a spare cable with stoppers. It is later easier to use, because I do not have to transfer the stitches back on a cable - they are already on a cable and I only must remove the stoppers and screw/click the needles on.
Which needles do you use (I use Addi click)?
haha thank you for your excitement :) http://dalegarn.no/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/DG_28601_GENSER-INSPIRERT-AV-ACNE-1-rettelse.pdf This is a link to the pattern - it's in Norwegian though so probably no use to you. :) I start knitting it bottom up, then the arms, and finally I am supposed to join all parts on the same needles, and voila! I'm expecting Magic to happen at this point! haha Not sure what kind of needles I use but they are not click ones. I googled them though and they look a lot easier to work With. Especially since I need to change the thickness of the needles I use. Thanks for pointing me in that direction :)
It looks so soft! And the colors are lovely!
A trick for putting your project on a placeholder yarn- use a tapestry needle or large needle or crochet hook to pull the thread around along the wire, then remove the wire.
thanks for Your great tip - I'll try to remember for next time :)
That yarn is delicious, @lil-mich! Your jumper is going to be so soft and fuzzy. Great job, and stay the course. Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you, my dear!
thank you - the work has slowed Down now that summer is here and there's more outdoor activities. But I try to get in a round or two every day. Well, that's my goal anyway :)
Wow - the colors are working up pretty on this sweater. Looking forward to updates!
thanks! I like the colours too :)
Are those the body stitches on the holder? Are you knitting the sleeves up to the armholes and then joining body and sleeves to knit the shoulders? I have done sweaters that way, and in pieces, and with steeks. You are doing well! Looking forward to updates.
yes, this is the body, I am now working on the arms. I am supposed to join all parts on the needles after they are all done, and knit the shoulders while joining all parts. Or so I think! :) A little anxious about this part! :)
After you have done it once, it will make perfect sense to you. Keep up the good work.
Så bra! Blir fin genser til sene sommerkvelder det der! :)
hehe mulig det må en høstgenser - ikke så lett å få strikket nå som sommeren er her :)
Whoa yes I remember you starting this!!! You wanted to give it a Go and look at you Go!!! 😃 Ooooh it look so soft and cozy already!! I am excited to follow this project!! Yay for you, great job!!
I commend you for using that type of yarn...I struggle with soft yarns like this sometimes when trying to crochet.
