A VISIT FROM JACK FROST
This time of year in Wisconsin its normal to wake up and see frost on the car windows and trees. Most days it disappears when the sun's warm rays touch the frozen objects. This day was overcast and there was also moisture that hung in the air. This created the perfect conditions for Frost to hang around until well past noon.!
Because the white frost created a beautiful winter scene I wanted to share this with my blogging friends. Especially those who live in warmer climates who never get a chance to witness this first hand.
Definition of frost
Wikipedia says frost is a thin layer of ice on a solid surface, which forms from water vapor in an above freezing atmosphere coming in contact with a solid surface whose temperature is below freezing, and resulting in a phase change from water vapor to ice as the water vapor reaches the freezing point. In temperate climates, it most commonly appears as fragile white crystals near the ground; but in cold climates, it occurs in a greater variety of forms.
Introducing Jack Frost
Wikipedia describes Jack Frost as a personification of frost, ice, snow, sleet, winter, and freezing cold. He is a variant of Old Man Winter who is held responsible for frosty weather, nipping the fingers and toes in such weather, coloring the foliage in autumn, and leaving fern-like patterns on cold windows in winter.
