This picture has brought back some not to good memories. Many years ago we lived on a canal and had a miniature collie. One day we found out there was a very big gator in the canal so before going fishing for the day I told the kids to not let the dog out, or if they did they were to keep him on a leash or tied outside because he loved the water. Kids being kids did not listen and the dog went for a swim. The gator got the dog and all the kids seen it happen. When we got home they told us what happened. They told us the cops were looking for it but could not find it. So that night my husband told me we are going to go find this gator, we had an old johnboat at the house but no oars, so my husband found a 2x4 for me to row with and he had a spotlight, I was rowing and he was looking when we saw another spotlight and could hear a cops radio, so my husband did not turn his light back on and we got next to the shore and quietly rowed back to our house. The next day we called the local gator hunter and told him a 12 foot gator got our dog. He told us the biggest gator in our area was 7 feet. We convinced him to come take a look at the prints we found that day, where it crossed the canal to go in another part of it. The gator hunter took one look at the size of it's footprint and agreed, it was a keeper, as he called it. My husband has big hands and the footprint was bigger than his hand. The part of the canal that the gator went in was full of water hyacinths and he never found it. Our dog floated up a couple days later so we got him out of the canal and buried him next to our house.

@wakeupkitty yes it was a very sad day. I was going to write it as one of the free-write contest but could not figure out the method of doing so. when you write do you do it like you are making a post or do I write it as a reply on the free-write page?

You write the way you like. Just 5 minutes and use in your text the prompt. The word yesterday given was "bark".
Your tags are: freewrite and freewritehouse, the other 3 you can choose.

On Saturdays you can pick your own prompt out of the long list of old prompts.

You can write a story to the word or write your story and fits the given prompt in it.
Leave the link of you post at the latest daily 5 minute freewrite post given by @mariannewest

@wakeupkitty Thank you for that info but, I do not think you understood my question, I will see if I can explain better. When I write a post I do so by clicking the pencil on the upper right side of my steemit page, do I write my story there OR do I go to @mariannewest and write it by clicking reply on her page? I am sorry for being a pain, but I am what I am, computer dumb.

You can do either. Some people only want a certain topic on their blog. They put their freewrite as a comment. But most do a post ( you press the pen on the top right) and then share a link to their post in the comments of the prompt post.
Hope that helps. Looking forward to your freewrite.

@mariannewest thank you, I will give it a try in the near future.

Sorry I misunderstood you.
Write your story with the pencil and post it like you always do. You leave the link of your post with her.

@wakeupkitty thank you, I have a hard time trying to figure out how to do things on the computer and once I learn them I am ok.

I am not different from you plus if something works I stick to it and will not easily try out something new. I ask the kids to check out or solve the problems.

@wakeupkitty I do the same, my kids are my computer helpers
