The Galago or Bush Baby

The Galago, also known as the bush baby, is a pretty cute primate. I have seen one before and they are really small, about the the size of your forearm at most and they make some pretty cool noises at night. They eat insects, fruit (not too often) and tree gum and come out at night. They have really good hearing and eyesight for the night, so that they can catch insects like moths and beetles that fly around in the dark.

Bush babies have strong back legs for jumping from branch to branch and a very strong grip to grasp onto trees. They are territorial, the males being separate from each other where the females form groups. They generally have 2 babies at a time, but sometimes one more or one less. The babies are looked after by the mother and become independent very quickly. They get eaten by large cats like genets and servals as well as owls and snakes. They are native to Africa and can be found in the tropical parts more especially on the eastern side and north of central Africa before the deserts.

Some people keep them as pets which is cool in some ways, but also sad.

I've heard much about Galago even there cry in the morning but I've never been privilege to know its English name or how it looks. Thanks @madiba I went to Ekulu primary school in Enugu state Nigeria and that where I use to hear the baby cry sounds of bush baby. Am excited with your article @madiba thanks once again.

It is great the the article could help. It is pretty amazing that you got to hear them often. I have only had the opportunity a few times, but I live in town now, so I won't have the opportunity any time soon.

I'm a firm believer that most animals must not be domesticated in any way... Imagine someone stealing you and forcing you to live indoors... there's so much freedom outside.

Nice informative post btw! Upvoted and resteemed

Thanks. I agree with you that most animals shouldn't be domesticated, its not natural.
