Hello friends of Steemit, today I want you to know where I come from. I was born, I grew up and I live in one of the most beautiful cities of my country, in MERIDA.
Known as the "City of Knights" in honor of the gentlemen of the region, who are distinguished by their hospitality and kindness to women from Merida and tourists and strangers who visit us.
It was founded on October 18, 1558 by Captain Juan Rodríguez Suárez, who for having found him much like his homeland "Mérida de Extremadura" (Spain) baptized him with this name.
It is located in the heart of the Venezuelan Andes between the Sierra de la Culata and the Sierra Nevada, both national parks.
It has a very pleasant climate that oscillates between 18 ° C and 24 ° C; a very varied fauna in which the bear frontino or spectacled and the condor stand out, its flora varies from the cactus and the cujíes in the arid zones to the south to the frailejones, lichens and mosses in the high areas to the north.
It has an endless number of tourist attractions including Pico Bolívar with an altitude of 4,978 meters above sea level. Where the Mukumbarí Cable Car arrives until now the tallest and the second longest in the world.
In addition you can see a variety of landscapes ranging from large snowy mountains and paramo areas north of the city to arid areas to the south and many typical villages
It enjoys a remarkable handicraft development, a diverse gastronomy, its culture is rich, since it is soothes of one of the main universities of the country called the University of the Andes "ULA", and it is an important sports center, because here is the Metropolitan soccer stadium that has a capacity for 42 thousand spectators and hosted the 2006 Copa América.
Our population is characterized by its hospitality and kindness with visitors that is why it is considered one of the most important tourist destinations in my country.
