Green-Minded : Of how I adore the beauty of Nature

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

Ever since I was a kid, I am always amazed by how much beautiful nature can be. Feeling the winds gush around your body as you chill, looking at the green leaves of trees and vibrant colors of flowers, this is still my definition of a perfect getaway.

Living all my life in a city, I am truly at peace being with nature for some time, thinking of nothing, lying on the grass, breathing fresh air. As time goes by, we become more and more industrialized that escaping the unending smoke and pollution of city life is quite rare to find.

As I have shared to all of you during my previous posts, I am pursuing to be a Meteorologist. To be specific, an Environmental Meteorologist. My motivation for taking this path is that I want to actually study the effects of climate change on plants. This may be trivial to majority, but I really want to help nature cope up with all the stress we humans do.

I dedicate this post to the nature, the environment we're living in, and to all of us humans - for us to not waste the beautiful faunas that we have.

Branch Out and Shelter us

This is just a normal sunny afternoon. I was walking around the campus of UP Diliman as I passed this huge tree branching out in all directions. Looking at it makes me feel relaxed and at the same time feel thankful that it stands here, on this spot, giving shelter to us from the great sunlight.

Standing strong, fighting, and living

I came across this tree in a park during my visit in Japan. It's quite weird seeing a tree without leaves or flowers during that time because it's actually Spring. But looking closer, you'll realize that this tree is still alive. And just like every trees in that park, I know it will soon blossom beautifully as the others. Plants are living creatures, they adapt to their environment. They prepare for the onset of winter, and they bloom during spring. And as this tree continues to fight, we'll definitely see how beautiful it can be.

Keep the Mountains alive

This is a scene of when I have visited Baguio City. The mountain range looking alive and healthy with standing green trees and vegetation. It's quite sad having to see deforested mountains and seeing this view in a developing city reminds me that somehow, we are still capable of preserving our forests and maintaining a life with nature.

Some things look good with green

Making a place artsy and beautiful does not necessarily mean having to focus on the design. Most of the time, leaving the place as it is, and putting a little amount of decoration does the trick. Just how much relaxing can it be? Seeing a pretty red lantern along the green and fine leaves of pine trees.

Grow and chase the sun

These beautiful sunflowers bloom during summer up to the onset of rainy season. Looking back, these yellow ones indicates that graduation season in UP Diliman is coming. It's quite a tradition to have a picture with these ever gorgeous flowers as you wear your sablay, the academic costume (sash) used by UP graduates. Wouldn't it be sad if you graduated from UP without having a photo op with these?

Bloom amidst drought

IMG_3088.JPG

Drought is a phenomenon characterized by decreasing amount of soil moisture. And this hazard dries up plants, draining all their nutrition, until it kills them. However, these flower seems to fight and still bloom amidst losing its nutrition. There are certain things we cannot control, one of which are environmental hazards. But having seen this flower, it made me realize that even though we cannot control some things, we can still do some that might help us save nature. And we should start caring for it.

Harmonize and Contribute

IMG_4214.JPG

Cherry blossoms are quite a view during Spring in Japan. This picture does not only show how pretty they are, but it also shows how plants harmonize to give us a picture perfect scene, and a relaxing view away from the stressful life. Just like us, plants are living things, and if they can harmonize to fulfill us, why can't we?

Climate change is real. And it affects not just us humans, but also the plants and animals. Unlike us and our pets, livestocks, and wild animals, plants cannot move. They cannot move from one place to another when something went wrong - such as wildfires, droughts, and landslides. But we can do something for them, after all, we benefit and use them in our daily lives.

Walking with nature as this planet matures is something that we need to do. And it's something that ALL of us should realize and understand. I hope that this post helps you realize how lucky we are to have plants in our lives. How fortunate we are having to see them bloom; and how unfortunate for those people to come with nothing green and flowery to see. Let's all walk with nature, this time!
