Coffee is roasting a killer Amistad!

The Costa Rica was our very first Crown Jewel selection, and first Decaf Crown Jewel Selection as well. Now it's back in time for SCA Expo 2018, and this year's crop is just as fantastic as previous years' were. Decaf has been all the rage lately, and we worked with Swiss Water to decaffeinate this beautiful organic Costa Rican coffee. Two common hybrids make up this lot, and they’re related. Caturra is a naturally occurring dwarf mutation of Bourbon first seen in Brazil in the early 20th century. Catuaí is also a dwarf variety, originating from a hybridization of Caturra and Mundo Novo in Brazil. Both cultivars are resistant to wind and rain, relatively high yielding, can be planted more closely together than larger cultivars, and require some precision in fertilization.

This coffee was marked as a Crown Jewel after being served in the office. The only trick was that nobody knew it was decaf when they were served! Many people were taken aback after the big reveal, and we decided to offer it in smaller quantities.
