Tagetes, the great unknowns

Hello steemians !!! Today I bring you a plant that is beautiful and will be our great ally in our garden and vegetable patch.  

It's about the tagete, French marigold... "Tagete espatula". It is an annual plant, its colors can be orange or yellow but can also have mixed tones between them and give off a pleasant smell on hot summer nights. 

 

BENEFITS  

The roots prevent nematodes from emerging, these small "worms" can affect our vegetables and so this is a remedy, very effective, cheap and environmentally friendly. In gardening, it is increasingly used for its flowering, it is striking a drawing of tagete with its striking and summery colors on the green carpet of a garden.

CARES  

It is an undemanding plant in terms of soil so we can have it anywhere. Irrigation is very important, it must be abundant and with moderate frequency (2-3 times per week) and it has to give direct sunlight for several hours a day.  

WHERE AND HOW TO GET IT

The tagete is economic and can be achieved with some ease in florists and garden centers but if you want to have your own harvest is very simple.  

You must wait for the flower to wilt, which means that the seed is already ripe (the seeds are brownish-black filaments) and we keep them in a dry place with darkness. In addition, no treatment is necessary. Then, the following spring we can plant in our seedbed for a new generation of this beautiful plant.
