RE: Turkey Tail: From The Woods To My Mug

@artemislives

Thank you for the quality comment! Yesss I think it's important to cultivate relationships with anything you intend to harvest really. I think when we dont respect Mother Nature she mirrors that lack of respect back to us and sometimes it can be detrimental or even fatal...

Yeah I do think most people probably just stick with the traditional duel extraction method which is tried and true, having been around for ages. However as science evolves and we begin better understand things on a molecular level, sometimes we find that there are ways we could be doing it even better or much efficiently. The article I cited as a reference and reason for not doing the duel extraction refers to a process they use to make a turkey tail extract with no alcohol. Essentially they do a simple decoction but then follow up using a spray dryer to remove all the liquid and are left with a powder extract which is easy to preserve. I really want a spray dryer now but they are EXPENSIVE.

I've been sipping on this "Turkey tail tea" I made for a week now and I actually just finished it this morning. I noticed it seemed to taste a little bit different each time. The initial taste seemed to have a strong citrusy flavor paired with an earthy, rooty flavor. It almost reminded me off coffee...
This morning however it seemed to have less of the citrusy flavor and more of a mushroomy taste. From what I have read it's not recommended to store in the fridge for longer than a week as it will eventually spoil. I did store it in the fridge for a few days and it seemed fine to me.

I mostly wanted to take it to boost my immunity and remove free radicals. I want to go into 2020 with a healthy and balanced body. Between all the "holiday food" and travelling I've definitely been feeling in need of a good cleanse. I plan to do a 7 day fast starting tomorrow and i felt it was good to go into it with somewhat of a boosted state. I'm super excited its gonna be great! 😁❤
