Not getting enough sleep or having difficulties falling asleep? This post should be of interest then as we will explore some of the best ways to help you sleep. Many of us are finding it harder than usual after the year we have had and so lots of us have spent time looking online for natural sleep remedies in the UK. The reason I specify the UK is because some natural sleep remedies in tablet format aren’t available here or require a specific prescription to buy such as melatonin.

We are now beginning to realize the mental and physical repercussions of poor sleep. In the short term, we may just be lacking energy and cognitive abilities which makes us a bit grumpy and less productive or effective at the office. However, consistent, ongoing poor sleeping habits are far more dangerous to our health than eating badly or not exercising enough. Not getting enough good quality sleep can increase your chances of getting many long term illnesses and your ability to fight off new infections. This is why, if you are having sleep troubles, it should be your priority to figure out how to improve the situation.

It’s no surprise then that so many people are looking for help to sleep at night from friends or online. However, as with many areas of our life many people are looking for the most natural sleep remedies in the UK. We are a lot more concerned with what we are putting into our bodies particularly if it’s to help with sleep. I don’t know about you, but the idea of a sleeping pill has always scared me - what if I don’t wake up?(It’s funny given what else we do that’s probably a lot worse, but there must be something psychological when it comes to sleep.)

There are many routes you can go when it comes to natural sleep remedies in the UK. The most common and well known are as follows:
Create a nightly routine - our bodies crave routine, going to bed (and waking up) at the same time every night significantly improves sleep, your mood and energy levels in the morning
Herbal teas such as chamomile, fresh lemon and ginger or a specific sleep tea blend
Avoid your phone or any “blue light” (this includes laptops and tvs) and hour before bed - light exposure can impact melatonin production and can keep your mind switched on and too engaged to relax (especially when we are scrolling social media) - try reading a book
A soothing hot bath with aromatherapy oils (more specifically a relaxation or night-time blend)
Meditation with an app such as Calm or headspace

There are also stronger natural sleep remedies in the form of sleeping tablets. These tend to be a blend of ingredients all of which may be used separately to help with sleep. My favourite natural sleeping tablets are the Paso Sleep Capsules. Affordable and very effective. Comment below if you have other suggestions!
