"Chronology 2004 Tsunami Disaster in Aceh.."
Giant wave tsunami devastated Aceh on December 26, 2004. Previous occur devastating earthquake in the seabed near the island of Simeulue. The following chronology of the tsunami disaster ten years ago.
26. December 2004 : At 7:59 local time, an earthquake measuring 9.1 to 9.3 on the Richter scale shook the seabed in the southwest of Sumatra, about 20 to 25 kilometers offshore. In just a few hours, a tsunami from the quake reached the African mainland.
27. December : The United Nations (UN) declared the tsunami in Aceh as the greatest humanitarian disaster that ever happened. International aid began to be driven to the disaster areas. The region worst affected by the tsunami was Aceh, Khao Lak in Thailand and most of Sri Lanka and India.
30. December : UN Secretary General at the time, Khofi Annan, calling the toll at least 115,000 people were killed. Germany sent a military plane that serves as a makeshift clinic to the disaster area. The German army Bundeswehr deployed to help victims of the disaster.
31. December : Indonesia declared as the worst tsunami disaster areas. The Indonesian government called the death toll will exceed 100,000 people.

1. January 2005 : US aircraft carrier "USS Abraham Lincoln" arrived in the waters of Sumatra to help evacuate victims and the distribution of relief materials. US helicopters deployed from aircraft carriers to distribute relief supplies to disaster areas important in Aceh.
2. January 2005 : The international community pledged for the tsunami disaster area worth 2 billion US $.
4. January 2005 : The United Nations said the number of casualties more than the original estimate, at least 200,000 people were killed.

The system is known as GITEWS (German Indonesian Tsunami Early Warning System). In 2008 developed into INATEWS (Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System).
19. March 2005: Around 380 German soldiers who served in the affected areas returned to base. During the charge, they treated about 3,000 patients affected. German Society Tsunami collect donations worth 670 million euros.
