MyPictureDay Submission - Old Town Evening

in #mypictureday7 years ago

Still have pretty cold weather here (almost around ZERO) due to North anti-cyclone still pushing the air. But that means pretty clean skies and with possible nice colors on sunset.
So one of the evening was too tired to sit in front of PC and blogging in steemit... so decided to go out for a walk in the Old Town of Klaipeda, Lithuania. Didn't really want to bring all the usual equipment with me, which is still pretty heavy and bulky, so just took the smallest possible SONY NEX-3, which as per my practice is still good enough.

Well, that were some colors in fact, but not too much. So all the series is color graded in post-production (Lightroom and Photoshop) to get some more special mood

So lets start from the general view from the bridge. The river Dane comes goes to the gulf at this place and not so far to the actual gates to the port and Baltic Sea then (you will see it at the end of the story)

OLD MILL HOTEL keeps quite an authentic vision how the Mill was looking at this place at XIX century

Now we are coming to the territory of cruise terminal and the yachts port. Not really much here during the winter times of course. And you can see some of them safely lifted to the pier. Autumn and winter here is pretty stormy and sometimes icy. That vessel with a red superstructure is SAR - port fire fighter and rescue ship

Well known sculpture of the boy, saying "hello" to the incoming ships or maybe "bye bye" to the ones leaving it. That's for you to decide what you do like more ;)
And you can almost see the gates to the port at the horizon line

And at this point we are coming to the end of this short story, since was really damn cold Northern wind and got frozen quite a lot

Come back for more stories if you liked that one. Hope you really enjoyed!

That are some really great photos right there. I especially like the photo of the Old Mill Hotel.

As i am new to Photography and just recently got my first DSLR (Nikon D5300 with 18-55mm Kit lens), do you have any tips for a beginner like me?

Just shoot around to see which genre of photography you really prefer and then concentrate on it. Then you can find a lot of tutorials in internet to improve your skills
