I come from a town called Owerri in Imo state, Nigeria. Located in the Eastern part of Nigeria, the heart beat of theEast! I have lived there all my life so I know every nook and cranny of the entire town.
I can't exhaust all the sights in this post but I won't fail to showcase the beautiful places.
In Nigeria, when you hear "owerri" the major things that come to your mind are "hotels" and "statues"
Statues most especially!!
Hotels every single place. So I'm about to feed your eyes with luxurious sights of the hotels in my town.

Concorde hotel, This was the first hotel to be built in my town, thus it's regarded as a historical landmark.

It's still standing tall and even more beautiful than the newer hotels.

You have been to my town and you haven't been to house of Freeda then I don't think you have really been to Owerri. It is one of the biggest plazas in my town

So if you ever find yourself in my town and you don't have any place to sleep. No worries, we gat you covered, there are zillions of hotels around and the booking costs are affordable.

Town of statues

This is the colloquial name of my town, town of statues. You know how New york is known for the statue of liberty, well my town is known for five good statues of some past African presidents. This statues are monuments worth tons of money and they are the first things you would notice when you visit my town for the first time because of their heights.
When these statues were first made, there was quite an uproar in my town because everyone now wanted their own statue. But with time, we adjusted.

My town has no museum yet so if you are the museum sort of person, looking at the statues could serve as a replacement.

The biggest church in my town built by the Irish- Assumpta Cathedral parish. It's a catholic church and almost all catholics worship here so if you love religion, this place is for you!

This is the name we gave to this structure. It's not real stone though but sometimes water flows out from these rocks when there's a power supply.
Last but not least the rural community, my town is not totally civilised because there are some underdeveloped areas. Hopefully 5 years later, these places won't be the way they are
Hope you had fun because I did! Oh I forgot to add, we love palm wine a lot in this town so be prepared to drink your guts out. Palm wine aka palmie is a local drink indigenous to the Igbos but in my town we take it personally. Look at the number of barrels somebody is using to store palmie
