However SBD does not benefit from the bear run at all.. This bear market is where Stablecoin shines as the perfect hedge asset and yet people are fleeing away from SBD.
Also there should be no reason why SBD should not be at $1, does it really take that long to fix a broken peg since the bull run last year? If so then i must say the developer community are incompetent and more importantly indecisive.
They are casual about SBD peg otherwise it is not a rocket science for a community like steemit Inc. They know about it and many times it was debated and discussed by leading witnesses but no such development was done in this regard. If they really make SBD pegged properly just like USDT, that will be good for this community.
During the first 6 months of steemit, steem was around 0.2 to 0.3 usd, despite of the low of value of steem, most of the authors were quite happy during those days. So the time has come to return to the original basics and let market decide the steem price but SBD should always be pegged to 1 usd.
I consider cash to be an indispensable backup system. What do you if a natural disaster or a crisis of some kind hits and electronic payment systems stop working? Or what if you've come to rely on mobile pay systems and then your phone battery runs out? What are you going to do? I also dislike the complete lack of financial privacy that comes with having only electronic means of payment available. I would never touch any of the mobile payment systems offered by banks. Cash is king. I've never felt unsafe carrying the kind of small amounts of cash that I usually carry with me. I think we're under enough surveillance already.

A broken peg is worse than no peg.

SMTs not immutable? SMTs will be stored on the Steem blockchain. All transactions on the Steem blockchain are immutable.
