7-Day Wayback Music Challenge - Day - 6
7-Day Wayback Music Challenge - Day - 6 - Metallica - One
This is one day late, I am so sorry :( I had a pre-Mother's Day day with my oldest daughter at the park, with my grandbabies and all my babies 3 through 8. Baby number 10 stayed home with Daddy during his nap :) Then I had to run to the store, twice :( The rest of the day was normal mommy duty and then I crashed at 10 pm. The sleeping part is why it was late. Sorry again.....so onto the music post.
My day 5 choice is Metallica. I am not a die-hard fan of Metallica. They are not on my playlist on my iPod or phone. The only time I really listen to them is when it comes on the radio or I am pissed. I can mean scream to them and it makes me calm down. You are probably wondering; "why in the world did she pick them then?" When I was in high school I was a very angry person. I did not socialize much, except a small group and a boyfriend, and I really didn't care about staying in the world. Long, long story....anyhoo Metallica allowed me to be angry. One, on the other hand, lets me cry. It gave me the permission to be angry and to understand that the world sucks and just because you are "suppose" to react a certain way; because it is "normal" doesn't mean you have too. Plus, Metallica was the one group the people who raised me hated. That was always a perk :)
Metallica One is a song that takes you on a journey and you see it all unfold. You feel how horrible the pain is and you feel so sad, by the end of the song, well for me anyway, you want to end it for the guy. James Hatfield's voice makes that pain even more real. (I didn't even have to look that up, I still knew his name, LOL.)
I cannot remember where I was the first time I heard this song, but I know when I did I cried my eyes out. Then I was hooked, Metallica was my go-to band for anger. Most of my friends hated them, they loved their hair bands, and most of my guy friends loved them. So it scored me points with them. However, once you say you love Metallica they want to introduce you to all of the bands like them. LOL
Metallica was again a band riding alone in the car full blast or at home annoying the neighbors that just made you feel better. I could sing most of the song but not too much of the deep voice parts as it fucked up my voice. I'm a girl, I don't have testicles to allow me to go that deep and scratchy lol Eroded is so happy about that part :) Oh, and who does not love the drums of Metallica. This first time I heard them I fell in love with the drum player. How in the world does he play the fast for that long? He must work out a lot.
Look what I figured out.......
Darkness
Imprisoning me
All that I see
Absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell
If you know my writing, you know why this is my favorite part ;)
