We Are: The Guard Weekly Music Roundup - Week 4

in #music7 years ago

Have you ever happen to be casually surfing the web looking for new music, and then out of nowhere, you come across something that sounds so good it blows your mind? Yes? No?

Either way today is the day we do exactly that, or at least try with our recommendations of the Best Of Indie, Pop, and Chill from the past seven days. The following tracks have been handpicked by the We Are: The Guard staff, curators, and editor. This is our contribution to better the world and your playlist. And you bet that we’ll be doing this every week and keeping it fresh!

We hope to turn you on to artists you didn’t know and eventually become that best friend that you can’t live without. So let’s have some fun, discover something new, and take it from there. In no particular order and in cliff notes fashion here are the top songs in indie and indie pop… Let’s kick it off with the top songs in indie music:

BECK - FIX ME

Beck’s new video for his single “Fix Me” is sure to make even the saddest of souls feel the feels. This smooth tender production will have you bursting with emotion and have you falling back in love with the hippest hipster to date.

CASHMERE CAT - MISS YOU

Co-written by Ed Sheeran, “Miss You” from Cashmere Cat invites you to let loose with the catchy beat sampled from Palmistry’s breakthrough hit “Lifted.” We or shall I say I … think that “Miss You” would have lacked a certain oomph had it not been for Palmistry. Either way, we think it will get your body moving in the right direction.

YOUNG FATHERS - IN MY VIEW

Young Fathers’ upcoming album Cocoa Sugar is set to release in March of this year. Based on the singles “Lord” and “In My View” taken from the album we’re excited to listen to the energy that is about to drop. Are these guys set for excellence? We think so.

Changing gears a bit and jumping straight into our favorite indie pop songs:

TROYE SIVAN - THE GOOD SIDE

Troye Sivan’s “The Good Side” is extra special to us because Bram Inscore, a writer from our sister company Brill Building, co-wrote and produced this heavenly ballad. This delivery is hypnotizing and a perfect snapshot of bedroom bops for the hopeless romantic.

ST BEAUTY - CAUGHT

St Beauty hasn’t blown up quite yet, but they have the sound of being part of the hottest artists of 2018. With music like “Caught” and their fiery attitude, these two make it easy for listeners to become instant fans.

JORJA SMITH - LET ME DOWN FT. STORMZY

Sometimes we tend to compare artists because it’s in our nature and not meant to discredit someone's originality and talent. So when I say if you like Adele you will love Jorja Smith. Smith is the second coming of Adele with her soaring vocals, plus she has mega sensuality and sass.

It may seem like we came up short for our music round up, but you can rest well or party well tonight because this was just an appetizer, the full course meal can be found on We Are: The Guard’s Best of Indie and Best of Indie Pop .

Now if you’ll excuse us, we gots to jump back on our headphones and prep for the week ahead!
