Sound Engineering and Music Production blog #17

Hello, Steemians! Let's discuss Speakers today. Mostly they're the last in the audio chain. The dynamic speakers are the most commonly used speakers. They are exactly opposite to the microphones. The working of dynamic speakers is exactly opposite to that of dynamic mics (I have discussed the working in one of my previous blogs).

The cross-sectional view of a dynamic speaker. As you can see it is quite similar to a dynamic microphone. Only the functioning of each device is reversed.
The speakers used by the professionals generally have 3 different drivers to emit 3 different frequency range. The separation of these frequencies is done by a device called Crossover. The crossover is generally in-built in the speakers but in case of passive speakers, the crossover and the amplifier which is required to amplify the signal up to a level to be able to drive the speaker cone, are external.

Cross-section of a dynamic midrange speaker where:

  1. Magnet 2. Cooler (sometimes present) 3. Voice coil 4. Suspension 5. Membrane

So, that's something about Speakers. Comment your views, share the knowledge, upvote if you like and check my other blogs as well. Also, suggest me what should I write about next so that I get to know what you guys want to learn or know more about.

Thank you.
