From like a thousand to one. Hello to a platform that can move a culture of creators.

in #music7 years ago

By the time I found Steemit, the amount of social media accounts, (from specific platforms catering to musicians like myself, to others catering to visual artists, which I also am) , multiplied to a number that I cannot really calculate right now, but that is exactly the point.

As a musician, I have undergone major changes and adaptation to the music industry's looming dark side, when the talentless get more compensation for the art that the musician/ creator himself. The checks and balances don't add up, and has always exploited niche tweaks from semi-obscure schools of genres that never become really mainstream. What happens is that the mainstream eats up that niche off-beat in garage, the saw sub-bass frequency from dub-step, and even (it's origins being dancehall) Reggaeton has been spread massively.

Being from Puerto Rico and having this genre repeating comebacks over the years has been interesting in a sociological way. This genre used to be exclusively Puertorican, and now I hear the beat inserted in pop be bop music all across the 'pop' spectrum. (...avoiding a tangent here)

As an artist, what is trending does not go with my work, and I do not wish to modify my work to fit the trend. And this is my point. The trend is set and the lines become less and less clear, for the creator. I am not against this, don't get me wrong. It just comes with the territory. I love making my art, be it music, painting, and all the other blends/ hybrids my creative spirit puts along my path.

Seems like I too act like the trend, but the trend that I set for myself... As a newbie to Steemit, I hope to be able to have a single outlet for all of my creations and content, secondly, set into scope all of the projects I've had pending to in production. As I carry on, I also hope to get more out of the years dedicated to programming, seeing it as an additional type of art form.

Much to talk about, but I do not want to get carried away, when first off, this is just a Hello To All!

I think you echo what all of us independent musicians think!

"when the talentless get more compensation for the art that the musician/ creator himself' - EXACTLY!!

I am a recent convert to Steemit and when you get involved with the community of musicians here it gives us all hope. This is like a little oasis where not only can we support each other but we can actually get paid for our music WITHOUT COMPROMISE. No bowing to commercial pressures, no recording to a formula just to get radio airplay.

Steemit for musicians rocks!!!!

Thanks @atomcollecyor. I can feel your enthusiasm! Good to know that there are peeps that know exactly what I mean.

Hey welcome to steem. Great track! I'll do my best to support you here on steem.

@solar thanks for the welcome and for the comment on the track posted. That is an oldie from around 2011... More to come, will be posting either a song, a piece of art, or a construction of mine per every post. Thanks again for the support.

Great to meet you here. I'm looking forward to follow and support each other!

thanks, same here @jonmagnusson , will be posting more frequently with additional music, artwork and more. Will follow you back too.

Awesom! I also run a community for independent artist. So if you have a moment feel free to check it out. http://www.themonsterthread.com and if it's something for you I'd love for you to join!
