Eco-Travel Guitar Project. Your chance to win a one of a kind handmade travel guitar . (EcoTrain)
I just woke up all inspired with a great idea. It came from thinking about the ecoTrain - this wonderful group of people on steemit who are all living their dreams (or trying to) and writing about stuff they are passionate about. Check the tag and link below to find out more about ecoTrain.
Some people are building earthships and sustainable eco villages. Some are travelling the world, bringing news of inspirational alternative communities. Some are doing deep spiritual practice and sharing their wisdom. Some are taking photos of the wonders of nature from some of the most beautiful places in the world. Some are sharing visions, music, ideas, poetry...
And I thought to myself.. what is it that I do? Mainly I sit up on this hill in Galilee, building guitars... not exactly world changing, but there it is. That's what I do.
And that’s when the idea struck! So here it is...
The Great Steemit Eco Travel Guitar Project Giveaway!!!
I'm going to build a travel guitar - a small bodied acoustic guitar which will be strong and light and portable. I'm going to build the whole thing from local and reclaimed materials. I'm going to document the whole project here on steemit. If I manage to get enough interest and generate enough steem from this series then at the end I'll make some kind of competition or prize draw and the winner will get the guitar.
Please upvote, resteem and comment if you think this is a good idea. I will really happily do this, have no doubt. It's time to share some gifts. That's what it's all about.

YES please do it because we would love to see the entire process from start to finish! I found your post on https://steemit.com/upvotable/@jerrybanfield/let-s-get-our-authors-and-curators-paid-in-upvotable-30 from @likedeeler's recommendation and am including it in upvotable 31 along with a tip! to support your project!
Yay! Fantastic! This will be a terrific project. So great you are supporting it!
Thanks @jerrybanfield for your support and @likedeeler for the recommendation. I'm really pleased and encouraged at the interest this project is getting. I'll be making a start on the guitar soon. Looking forward to sharing the process here on Steemit.
מזל טוב ! תודה !
Not that I know much Hebrew, it´s been more than 30 years since I´ve been in Israel, and I for sure can´t write and read Hebrew, but with a little help from the internet everybody can look a genius.
this is the way Steemit becomes even more amazing.. love it guys!
Wow @jerrybanfield, thank you very much indeed, you´re amazing!
Looks like Gideon´s wonderful project can take off now.
Never thought, my little push would reach so far.
That´s what I love about steemit, the virtual world can help the material world materializing.
Steemit, the place where magic happens. 😍
Can't believe it, you are too good for this world, any idea what the competition might be about, feel like practising already :-)
The competition is: Just answer those simple questions.
likedeeler: Did the ego invent spirituality?
stillgideon: Wow! I'd like to know what that question even means. What is the ego? What is spirituality? Is anything ever invented or only discovered? What came first, the chicken or the egg?
@likedeeler Thank you for the laugh. This is quite the comment. Do you mind if I tell you I love you?
I don't think you can ever comment too much 😂 💕
Yes, perhaps an ultimate definitive answer to the chicken and egg question
Easy: The ego is invented by the spirituality and the egg came first. The ego is that what wants the guitar and spirituality has nothing to do with ego and/or guitar :-)
My Lord, I have a cunning plan!
What about if, instead of the normal round hole in the guitar corpus, you would cut the shape of the steemit logo in there?
I got this idea by looking at a picture of a double bass which has those s-shape openings on each side of its strings.
Would that work in a guitar?
If not you could do the steemit logo as an inlay, but having actual funktional steemit logo shaped openings would be way cooler.
that is a cool idea
that IS a cool idea!!
What a beautiful idea! Also the thought of the guitar coming from the Galilea warms my heart. I was in Israel 6 years ago today on an archeological dig. It is an amazing place! I am upvoting following and resteeming this post.
This is an amazing idea from a generous heart. I'm looking forward to watching the progression. True craftstmanship going on here!
Hi @stillgideon! @jerrybanfield is sending you 10.0 SBD tip and @tipU upvote :)

This is a great idea! would it be a classical or steel-string?
Good question. I was thinking of steel string, but maybe classical could work. I think steel string would be louder for a very small body guitar, and it's what I prefer to play. Really it could be either. What do you prefer?
I like both, but I like the feel of a wide classical neck best. I'm excited to see this project progress. Cheers!
Omg! Unbelievable awesome that u are willing to put in the incredible amount of work u put in to making a guitar! Wow!
What a gift! !! Wowwwwwww
Well, I figure if I get a few followers and upvotes and generate a bit of interest from it, then it's a win win. I like the interactive element of it.
I am a traveler sans guitar. So, this is awesome for me if I win or anyone like me who wins.
When you said your making guitars isn't life-changing makes me kinda sad. I've done lots of random jobs, hobbies, etc in my 34 years but I'd be so proud and satisfied with myself if this was my pursuit. In fact, now that I'm watching myself write this, I may choose this path someday.
In the meantime, I'm resteeming in hopes this gets spread far and wide.
Thanks for your comment @writewords . Yes, for some people, making guitars is a calling. Once you get the idea you can't shake it off. I hope you find this series instructive and inspiring. It doesn't actually require many tools or special equipment to make a guitar - mostly patience, focus and determination.
This is a fantastic idea!
Regardless of if you get enough $teem or not I want to see you build it and HEAR the results!
Thanks @quinneaker .yes it's really exciting for me too. Making guitars is quite a solitary craft , so it's nice to show how I do it and get some feedback. It's always mysterious and thrilling to finally hear how it sounds at the end.
Yes I know what you mean!
I make didgeridoos and everyone sounds different and I don't really know what its going to sound like until its finished. I am excited to see your new piece and more importantly HEAR its soul~*~
