Soultrek on Choon

I've recently joined Choon, a blockchained based streaming service, which rewards artists with cryptocurrency, each time a user streams any of their songs. The cryptocurrency is an ERC20 based token called Notes, which at the time of writing is not available on any exchanges yet.

General users are also rewarded with a share of Notes when they create playlists and someone the streams that particular playlist's songs. The amount of Notes earned is based on how much the artist sets the earnings split per track individual track.

Now, as an artist, this great because people hardly spend money on music any more, especially for independent and lesser-known artists, and being rewarded in this alternate way has the potential of earning them money that they would not have otherwise earned.

The only negative points at the moment would be having more artists and users sign up and using the site. And the other, more pressing matter, for the artists wishing to actually use their earnings, there is no easy way to exchange the Notes for fiat or to use it otherwise.

With Choon still being in its Beta phase, there is still refinement need on the user interface and in the user experience but once you understand how it works things go smoothly. As mentioed before, the Notes are also not on any exchangable yet but, in terms using it in other ways, a recent update from the team stated that they had partnered with a service that will allows users to exchange their Notes for gift vouchers to use on popular commerces sites.

This is definitely a step forward to a more widespread adoption of cryptocurrency and overcoming one of its main roadblocks, actual use case.

Is it possible for the listener to earn Notes? By eg voting for an track; Commenting to a track; Or simply by listening the full track? Or can only artists and playlist creators earn money?

As far as I know only artists and playlist creators can earn notes. But I think that gives the listeners the motivation to listen to more artists tracks and in turn create their own playlists, in order to earn the notes.

You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:

Now, as an artist, this great because people hardly spend money on music any more, especially for independant and lesser-known artists, and being rewarded in this alternate way has the potential of earning them money that they would not have otherwise earned.
It should be independent instead of independant.

I've adjusted my playlist split to 10%, from the default 5%, on all my tracks. This gives playlist creators a better incentive to include your tracks in their playlists, besides them thinking it's a good song.
