A lot of people really feel bad when they consider how expensive it is to set up their private home studio. Some others are left at the mercies of producers that do not really care about how their sound comes out.
Well guess what? I might just have a solution for you.

Basically there are a few essentials that must be present in your home studio before you beat your chest with a sense of achievement.
- The space where the studio will be
- A laptop
- Audio Interface
- Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)
- Microphone
- A midi keyboard
- Headphones
Now trust me when I say that there are a host of other things that you will eventually need, but with these, you sure that have a pretty good head start at almost no cost.
HOW?

1. The Space
Even before your studio dream becomes a reality, you will need to decide what part of the house you will eventually want to use. Then you can start visualizing what it would look like when it is completely set up and ready.
2. A Laptop
Now I very well know that many will easily tell you to go for a Macbook or I-Mac, truth is; a very good laptop with a WINDOWS OS will still do a very good job. Just ensure I has good memory and doesn't lag.
3. Audio Interface
This matters a lot, and can make or mare the final output of your productions. Choosing the perfect audio interface should be of paramount importance to you. Now there are a variety of options to pick from.
NOTE: Some will drain your bank balance while some others will leave you some change and still prove helpful.

4. DAW
There are a whole lot to choose from depending on your Operating system; be it MAC or Windows. SInce we are going with the cheaper choices, you can always use the windows softwares. Here are two very basic DAW's you can get acquainted with
- Fruity Loops
- Cubase
5. Microphone
Any very good condenser mic will do the trick for you. Keep reading and you'll see a cheaper solution.
6. Keyboard
Get yourself a very nice keyboard that uses a midi chord. there are a variety of options to pick from.
7. Headphones
A lot of people will argue that you will need to get studio monitors, but trust me when I say, you can still do a whole lot with your headphones. Remember you called it a home studio right? You can always upgrade to some monitors later, but they aren't really a must have to produce your first song.
