Unique & Rare Guitars/Basses
Hey all, who out there has a unique and/or hard to find instrument that has a cool story behind it? Share your cool interesting finds and what makes them so special to you!
This guy is an Ibanez Rickenbacker copy that I picked up used here in Edmonton over 10 years ago, for only $500.
The cool part is, it was made in 1976 before Ibanez got sued by the companies they were ripping off.
I've used it on recordings from metal to country, and it's the perfect bass for my Motorhead tribute band.
Next, this is a Zon Sonus 5, custom made in San Francisco by Zon Guitars. I picked this one up (again, used) at the now-closed BassNW in Seattle while on a road trip to see Rush. Got it for $1500 USD - went there to buy a Dingwall Afterburner 5 but dollar for dollar, this was the clear winner. As far as I've heard, it is the only Zon in the Edmonton area :D
It has a composite neck (perfect for staying in tune in the brutal Alberta winters), Bartolini pickups with active EQ and 3-way selectable mid frequency switch. This is the bass I took to Kristiansand, Norway when Tylor Dory Trio recorded our album at Christer-Andre Cederberg's studio in 2017.
Show off your cool unique instruments!
