Joy Division- Unknown Pleasures (full album)
Released: June 1979
Styles: Punk / New Wave, Alternative / Indie Rock, Post-Punk
'Unknow Pleasures' seems to be a classic beyond the place and time it was made, on other hand by the cover of Peter Saville, representing a transcription of a sign showing a nova star on a black stamped background.
The ten songs from the interior of 'Unknown Pleasures' are as cold as stone and the whole album is a monument to passion, energy and cataract despair. The qualitative leap of the first singles of 'Unknown Pleasures' can be seen in each note of each song, with the unbeatable production of Martin Hannett - marking the way to the later dub generations.
Songs with background sounds where we hear noises of movements and activity, broken glass and minimal keyboards that augurs an imminent disaster. There seems to be something lurking behind every cut when you're listening. But although this is typical of any Hannett album, songs and performances are the real key. Bernard Sumner redefines with fear and energy the heavy metal cracks that are in the pose of the songs, Peter Hook, with the calided of his immediately recognizable bass, Stephen Morris, lashing with his drums above everything else. Ian Curtis synthesizes and purifies every last impulse, his voice connects with some distant place, far away - as seen in the pleasant "Candidate". The nervous dance of the death of "she's Lost Control"; The distressing call for freedom "New Dawn fades" with the four members in perfect synchronization; The romance in the hell of "Shadowplay"; "Insight" and his journey to some kind of apocalypse. All visceral, all emotional, all theatrical, all perfect, one of the best albums of all time.
