Meital Dohan — Music and Film For Humans
Do you know Meital Dohan? If you are in the US and were a fan of the TV show “Weeds” (Showtime) then you very likely do as she played Yael Hoffman on that show. If you never watched the show or want to watch it again it is available many places online.

Aside from that show, Meital had already made a name for herself internationally before coming to the United States. Born in Israel she began her acting career there and was recognized with nominations for two Israeli Oscar nominations and an Israeli Tony Award.
Her acting career in film, TV and on stage is really much more extensive than most people realize. Check out her listing on IMDB for a full rundown. Her filmography includes an upcoming release (2018) of a film called Cabaret Maxime which has a page on IMDB and is listed as being in post-production at the moment.
I first got to know Meital when I heard one of her songs on YouTube. I got to see the evolution of her crossover from acting to music from a web perspective and learned that having a name in Hollywood doesn’t necessarily go very far in the music business. You still have to prove yourself there to (potentially) a whole new audience.
Meital Dohan did prove her music chops with the success of the three songs that were part of her debut effort titled “I’m In Hate With Love” and included the songs; “Yummy Boyz”, “On Ya” (ft Sean Kingston) with 7 million views and “Give Us Back Love” with 3 million views.
That was after her first music video; “Yummy” gathered over 2.2 million views on YouTube. Yummy more or less established the style of her music videos as it had a healthy helping of sexy humor thrown in as an added bonus although her ensuing videos focused more on the music.
Her music found an audience as is evidenced by both the online views and plays that her songs and videos got but also the offline popularity of her music in dance clubs. and on radio:
№1 on iTunes Dance Chart Italy
№4 on UK Commercial Pop Club Chart
№7 on Billboard Club Chart
№33 on Billboard Electronic Dance Chart
№3 on Kings of Spins
№5 on Chart Jeffrey/Disastronaut/Audio Sushi Chart Fix
№16 in the UK Upfront Club Chart, Cool Cuts Chart
TOP 20, & DMC Buzz Chart — TOP 20.

Meital has been busy with new projects including a recent photo-shoot which has not been released yet and the aforementioned film to be released this year. I find her to be a complex, multi-dimensional entertainer in a 2-D world. Meital Dohan is someone you either like or you don’t and those who don’t seem to be the ones who do not really appreciate her humor.
I think that a good example of her humor (other than her music videos) is the sketch in which she introduces you to Charlie, the tiger who lives with her. I don’t know that I would be comfortable being that cozy to a full grown tiger but she makes the relationship look easy.
So check out some of Meital’s work and see if you agree with me. She does post regularly on her Facebook profile and will usually interact with her followers on there. I am a follower on facebook so say hi!
